I have been using a Britrail pass when in England for some years and find it most practical and agreeable. I am eighty seven years old and find that taking a first class ticket is the answer to traveling at any hour of the day, particularly during rush hours when seats are at a premium... There is always room in first class so well worth the small extra cost. I shall continue to avail myself of this service as long as I am able to return 'home' to London!

I purchased the pass as a graduation gift for my daughter who was traveling to visit friends in the UK. It made her train travel convenient, safe and hassle free. It is such good value and one less thing for her to worry about.

Excellent value ticket and allowing a range of destinations on the one ticket savd time queueing . Travel was easy, trains clean and on time! I thought that only happened in Switzerland. On one trip we were almost force fed by the friendly 'cabin' staff. Certainly a good start to our walking trip in the Cotswolds.

We enjoyed our trip with BritRail very much. The employees are very helpful and polite. It was easy to change the trains and they were very punktual. Somethings are unusual for us, for example to show the passes when you get off the railway station. Some trains are very old and could be cleaner and the air condition in the trains are often very cold. All in all we had a very positiv and nice experience with BritRail.

Excellent Way to TravelJudi Morrow ,United StatesAge: 50-59June 27, 2014
My daughter and I flew into Heathrow airport for a week long vacation in the United Kingdom. Purchasing the BritRail South West Pass in the US prior to our trip was an excellent decision. We took the Heathrow Express to Paddington. Once you have tried the Heathrow Express you are hooked on the service and fast transportation to Paddington Station. We then used our BritRail pass to take a train to Cardiff, Wales. No problem! After spending two days in Cardiff, our BritRail Passes took us to Bath. We explored the Bath Roman ruins and enjoyed our day. We then used the BritRail Passes to go to London. After four days in London we took the Heathrow Express back to the airport. Each journey on the train was easy, convenient and comfortable. All employees were friendly and helpful. It was great to not worry about making reservations. We just got on the train that was most convenient for us. Everyone recognized our passes, no questions or issues. When we fly back to the United Kingdom, we will purchase BritRail passes again. It was an excellent experience.

Better than drivingIan M. ,USA.Age: 60+June 27, 2014
I chose the block of days option. The pass includes Heathrow Express, which is very convenient on arrival in the UK. The Southwest pass Does not include Wales nor East of a line from Portsmouth to London. You are not restricted and seats are usually available. It's nice to just go to the station and just get on a train. London and the former Kingdom of Wessex are enough for any holiday. You can stop and stay anywhere in the network you wish with this pass. The pass is relatively inexpensive; Those single fares would soon mount up.

A wonderful way to travelPeter Harris ,CanadaAge: 60+June 27, 2014
This is the third time that I have purchased a flex railpass and I would do it again. We have never had a problem finding seats and not having to be booked onto a specific train is a bonus for the way that we like to travel. I only wish that there would be more choices in the number of travel days that are available. In this day of electronic wizardry one would think that it would be easy to select any number of travel days within a specific time frame.

I am so glad that I got a Britrail pass. It saved so much time on our traveling. It really does allow a flexible travel plan if you decide to jump off at a random station because it sounds like a neat place to visit. If I ever go back to England and used the train to travel around the pass will be on the list of essentials.

Brilliant-When it worksPhillip King ,AustraliaAge: 50-59December 07, 2013
I bought the South West pass because I wanted to see England between Penzance and Portsmouth. When it works, the system is brilliant. However, I suspect that there are infrastructure problems because I was delayed twice because of equipment failure (points and signals). Not a major problem but it is frustrating sitting on a stationary train, not knowing when your journey will resume. Another point to note. Other train Companies such as Crosscountry Trains operate on the First Great Western and South West Trains network. Your pass is valid on these trains as well, as long as you don't go outside the zone. In conclusion; despite the minor hiccups a very satisfying experience.

I was riding to the coast as we approached Wincester. The old song about the Winchester Cathedral started going though my head. With my pass, I could get off and finally hear the bell and see the church and then continue on my way.
