Additional Details
  • Some trains in Great Britain do not have 1st class accommodations. The price of 1st class passes have been adjusted to reflect this.
Pass Delivery
  • If a paper pass is selected, this pass is printed on official railway ticket paper that will be shipped to you. You can select from the available shipping options during checkout. Please allow sufficient time to receive your pass before your departure.
  • If an M-Pass is selected, an email with an activation link will be sent. When you are ready to use the M-Pass, click the link to select your first day of use or travel dates. After you have completed the check-in, you will be able to download your M-Pass.
Seat Reservations
  • A seat reservation is optional but recommended in order to guarantee a seat on a specific train and time. Reserve a seat.
Note: Passengers who wish to upgrade a Standard Class BritRail Pass to First Class will need to pay the difference in excess between the Standard and First Class Ordinary Fare for the leg of the journey that has not been taken. This may be paid at the ticket office before boarding the train or to the ticket inspector on the train.

We recently traveled to England from Canada and we booked a package of 8 train travel days in a 30 day period, which suited us perfectly with our travel plans. When we bought the tickets online we saw that it wasn't much more cost to travel First Class, and we are so happy we did. Although not every train has First Class coaches, we were always able to travel First Class in the trains we used. There was always somewhere in the compartment to put our suitcases and backpacks, and almost always we had the compartment to ourselves, making it even more relaxing and memorable. Being able to enjoy the countryside instead of driving or map reading was very relaxing and enjoyable. Using the BritRail service instead of renting a car was not only cheaper, it removed the stress of driving from place to place using the other side of the road and trying to read maps with unpronounceable place names. I would recommend using BritRail to anyone planning a trip to England, and when we go there again it will be the only service we use to get from town to town.

All trains were on time and very clean. We enjoyed the experiences on the trips we did. I would recommend this pass for others who would like to see the southern part of Britain. Next time we will use the pass for the south-west.
